A 'Charmed' Reboot Is Officially in the Works with One Major Twist
This big twist could be a deal-breaker for us.
The rumors are true!
The CW has officially confirmed to EW that it is actively developing a Charmed reboot. The Aaron Spelling supernatural drama originally aired on The WB between 1998 and 2006. However there is one interesting twist to the reboot that kind of has us scratching our heads out of concern:
According to reports, the reboot will ditch modern day San Francisco and take place in a small New England town in 1976. Say what? So many questions.
Given the new time period the reboot is reportedly going to take place in, we highly doubt original cast members Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, or Rose McGowen will be involved. TVLine has also posted a few unofficial descriptions of the three lead witches which makes the proposed reboot feel even more removed from the original. Behold:
Charmed was all about "The Power of Three" and the bond of sisterhood, so we have no clue how The CW would even pull off a series without any of the original cast members, let alone one set in the 1970s.
For now, we'll hope for the best and save the judgements for the pilot.
