January Premiership Transfer News

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs are busy scouring the world looking to bring in new signings during the transfer window.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with big money moves to boost their chances of winning the title.

Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is notorious for being reluctant to make any major signings in January claiming there is little value at that time of year, but despite that he did fork out £10.6million to sign Mohamed Elneny last year.
Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez is one player on their radar, while Hednesford Town youngster Cohen Bramall has been made a surprise signing.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has money to spend to strengthen his squad – but most activity could involve players leaving.
Striker Callum Wilson is being targeted by both Newcastle and West Ham while Benik Afobe is another who could be available if the right offer is made.

Boss Sean Dyche has one of the smallest budgets in the Premier League so will be looking at the Championship and abroad for bargains.

Chelsea

Boss Antonio Conte has been told he can spend money to boost the club’s title challenge, with the club rivalling Arsenal in the race for Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez.
Midfielder Oscar has already left for China and Jon Obi Mikel has joined him.
More young players could be on their way out of Stamford Bridge on loan, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek attracting most attention.

They may face a fight to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha with Tottenham weighing up a bid during the window.

Manager Ronald Koeman has money to spend and is already completed the signing of highly-rated youngster Ademola Lookman from Charlton, while Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin is another target.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has already started his January business by signing Wilfred Ndidi from Genk and the spending is unlikely to end there.
Leicester are looking to strengthen at the back, but striker Leonardo Ulloa may be on the way out after struggling for regular football this season.

Liverpool

Boss Jurgen Klopp knows he still needs to strengthen his squad and Leverkusen’s former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is one player they have looked at.

With the challenge for the title faltering, City boss Pep Guardiola is looking to add to his squad even though Gabriel Jesus has arrived following his £27million move from Palmerias.

Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is keen to add new faces to his squad and Roma midfielder Kostas Manolas has emerged as a surprise target.

There could be several players on the way out of Old Trafford with Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay both set to be off-loaded.

Middlesbrough

Manager Aitor Karanka has wasted no time getting started with his spending, snapping up Rudy Gestede and Finnish striker Mikael Soisalo.

Southampton

Much of the transfer window could see Southampton trying to keep hold of defenders Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dyke with Manchester United leading a number of clubs circling the defenders.
Striker Shane Long has interested West Ham while Saints also retain an interest in Daniel Sturridge if Liverpool decide he is surplus to requirements.

Boss Mark Hughes has wasted no time making the loan move of goalkeeper Lee Grant from Derby a permanent one.
Defender Glen Johnson is wanted by West Ham as he nears the end of his contract while striker Bojan has been unsettled at a lack of opportunities.

Though boss David Moyes wants to make major changes to his squad he has been told there is little money available to sign anyone.
Instead he faces a battle to keep hold of star asset Jermain Defoe with West Ham already failing with a £6m bid for the striker.

New boss Paul Clement has been told he can bring in two or three players to boost the club’s battle to beat the drop.
But Swansea also know they may have to resist approaches for striker Fernando Llorente, who has caught the interest of Chelsea.

Defender Kieran Trippier has a host of clubs interested in him after he lost out to Kyle Walker in the battle to be first choice at right-back.

Boss Walter Mazzari has little money to spend this window, but he has already failed with am £8m bid for Brentofrd's highly-rated Scott Hogan.

West Ham

Desperate to sign a striker, the Hammers have failed with a bid for Jermain Defoe and are also interested in Scott Hogan and Daniel Sturridge.
